Auditions

Important Dates: 

  • Monday July 13th - Prep Class 1

  • Wednesday July 22nd - Prep Class 2

  • Sunday July 26th - Round 1 video submissions due by 11:59 pm 

  • Tuesday July 28th - Round 1 results released and Round 2 audition materials sent

  • Saturday August 8th - Round 2 In Person Auditions in Norfolk, VA

  • Monday August 10th - Team Announcement

Round 1 Details:

Registration: You can register by clicking the “Register for Auditions” link above.

  • The cost to audition is $15

  • You will be prompted to fill out a form so have your social media and two references ready to go before registering.

  • After registering you will be emailed an Audition Instructions file that will contain the link to the Audition Materials.

  • If you do not receive the Audition Instructions file after registering please contact us at admiralsdanceteam@gmail.com

Audition Materials: The Round 1 audition materials will include:

  • A video of the Round 1 audition choreography to counts and to music.

  • A MP3 file with the audition music.

  • You will also receive sideline choreography so you can get ahead on learning the choreography, but this will not be needed until Round 2.

Audition Video Requirements: Your Round One video submission should include:

  • An introduction where you will state your name, occupation/school, and relevant dance experience.

  • A video of yourself performing the Round 1 audition routine to the front with music.

  • and optionally, you may also film any tricks or skills you would like the judges to see.

Audition Video Specifications:

  • Please make sure your entire body can be seen in the video, you are in a well lit area, and that your background is relatively clear.

  • You do not have to be in a dance studio if it is not available to you, you can use any clear space, including outside.

  • We recommend full “Game Day Ready” hair and makeup and all black form fitting attire for your audition video.

  • Please edit the videos together and submit as one video file. There are several free apps that can be used to edit your videos together.

  • You will submit your video to the provided Dropbox link by July 26th 11:59 pm.


Round 2 Details:

Notification:

  • You will receive an email on July 28th notifying you if you have advanced to Round 2.

  • If you have advanced to Round 2 you will receive the Round 2 audition materials with additional choreography to add on to the routine and a new music file.

  • You will be expected to learn the additional choreography and have the full routine ready to perform at the in person audition.

  • You will also be expected to have the sideline that was sent with the round 1 audition materials ready to perform.

In Person Audition:

  • The time and location will be provided to you in your notification email.

  • You will be asked to wear all black form fitting attire and any dance shoes you are comfortable with.

  • You will perform the full routine in front of a panel of judges.

  • Also, we will play a random game day song and you will be expected to perform the sideline to that song.

Team Announcement:

  • You will receive an email on August 10th notifying you if you have made the team!

  • The email will contain more information about next steps and upcoming practices

  • The 26-27 team members will also be announced on social media.

Norfolk Admirals Dance Team 26-27 Job Description

The Norfolk Admirals are looking for dancers to be Brand Ambassadors and Entertainers. The dance team is an integral part of the Norfolk Admirals fan experience, participating in dance performances and appearances as part of game day entertainment.

Responsibilities:

  • Represent the Norfolk Admirals as brand ambassadors, including fan engagement, community, media, and corporate partner events 

  • Entertain audiences through Ice Performances, Media Timeouts, Fan Interactions, and performing sidelines during the game

  • Contribute content for the Norfolk Admirals and Norfolk Admirals Dance Team social media

  • Attend games, practices, meetings, and appearances

Requirements:

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills 

  • Passion for community outreach and dance/cheer

  • Ability to learn quickly, master, and perform choreography 

  • Strong teamwork skills, enthusiastic, friendly, positive attitude 

  • Ability to successfully perform the physical requirements involved in performing dance routines as well as dancing for the entire game.  

  • Ability to attend practices and Admiral home Friday and Saturday games 

  • Have reliable transportation to all practices and games 

  • Must be 21 years old by Oct 23rd 2026

  • High school diploma or G.E.D required 

Time Commitment:

  • Season will be from August - April and could extend into May or June if the Admirals make playoffs

  • 2 practices per week - Mondays and Wednesdays 7:30-9:30 pm in Virginia Beach, VA

  • Practicing on own time will be required

  • Homework may be given in between practices 

  • Dancers will be expected to attend 8 Friday games and ALL Saturday games. 

    • Friday Home games: 13

    • Saturday Home games: 13

  • Dancers will be expected to attend Playoffs Games that could be on any night of the week in April May and June

  • Dancers will be expected at the arena 2 hours before game start time and will be dismissed after the game has completely finished and all dancer responsibilities are complete. About 5pm-10pm
